Safety and Support

EXPLORE OUR KEY
SAFETY MEASURES

We fully appreciate the role of health and safety within our industry. Our commitment to health and safety is fundamental in everything we do, particularly for our school groups on tour. This page summarises our key safety considerations and measures.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SMS) POLICY

Our Safety Management System policy is a working document, detailing the safety considerations and measures that we’ve put into place. Our staff and partners must be familiar with this policy to ensure we continue operating at industry best practice and meet school travel safety standards.

ACCOMMODATION & ACTIVITY AUDITS

During our destination and surf camp recces, we complete a detailed accommodation and activity audit process to assess the suitability of our overseas partners. We particularly assess their accommodation and activities on offer, in addition to all documentation and health and safety standards.

RISK ASSESSMENT PACKS

Upon confirming your booking, the travelling staff leader will receive a detailed risk assessment pack for their upcoming surf and wellbeing trip, which is relative to your destination. Risk assessments are essential to control the safety of your group, whilst identifying any potential risks and areas for improvement.

24-HOUR DUTY OFFICER

We operate a 24-hour emergency assistance line, which is available to our groups throughout the duration of their school surf trip. The phone line will be operated by a Duty Officer in the United Kingdom, who will support your group in case of an emergency.

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

We believe that it is unacceptable for a child, young person or adult to experience abuse of any kind and we recognise our responsibility to safeguard passenger welfare. Our child protection policy protects our passengers and provides guidance to staff.

INTERNATIONAL SURF CAMP PARTNERS

We maintain a close working relationship with our international surf camp partners and regularly re-evaluate how we can improve upon our service. We hold professional contracts with our suppliers to safeguard our school customers and guarantee that expectations and obligations are adhered to.

FCO TRAVEL ADVICE

We are constantly monitoring the FCO travel advice for our destinations. Should the FCO advise against all but essential travel to your destination within two months of departure, suitable alternative arrangements will be offered to your group. In most cases, this involves travelling to a new destination, with a similar package.

POST-TRIP REVIEW MEETING

Upon returning home from the surf trip, your School Manager will arrange to sit down with you to review your experience. Whilst we look forward to hearing about your stories and experiences, your feedback is highly valuable to continue improving upon our service and safety management systems.
