Boasting the highest volume of biodiversity in Asia, Sri Lanka is a paradise for both the surfer and adventurer. Learn to surf on gentle white-water waves or progress with playful peelers, with a backdrop of white sand beaches fringed by palm trees. When you’re not surfing or practising yoga, you will be exploring local towns, tea plantations, National Parks and World Heritage Sites.
SURFING IN SRI LANKA
Sri Lanka is an island of two halves, with the East and West of the island experiencing different wet and dry seasons. The best time to visit Ahangama and Weligama in the West is from October to April, the dry season. Whereas Sri Lanka’s East Coast is best visited from May to September. Sri Lanka’s waves are mid-size and not overly powerful. Sri Lanka’s surf consists of mellow beach-breaks, playful peelers and easy reef breaks. You will be surfing the waves that are best suited to your level.
OUR PARTNERED SURF CAMPS IN SRI LANKA
We’ve partnered with two reputable and high-quality international surf camps in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province. Choose to stay exclusively at a tropical surf retreat in Ahangama or a secluded oasis in Weligama. Both surf camps provide stylish surf villa accommodation with comfortable rooms and varied facilities.
Weligama is the larger and busier town, boasting two kilometres of shallow sandy beach; best suited to beginner and intermediate surfers. Ahangama is a smaller surf town, with less tourism and both beginner waves and intermediate reef breaks. Experience Sri Lanka’s beautiful surroundings and welcoming people!
FLIGHTS AND TRANSFERS
Flights and overseas transfers for all students and staff are included within our prices. The flight time from the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka is typically 14 hours with one connection in Doha, Dubai or Oman. We offer flights to Sri Lanka from Manchester, Birmingham, Scotland and London Airports.
Upon arrival in Sri Lanka with your Group Leader, the surf camp team will be waiting with a private airport transfer to the surf camp. On the return trip, we’ll travel to Colombo the night before the inbound flight, staying at a suitable airport hotel. This will assist with a smooth journey home the following day.
