OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

CARBON EMISSIONS OFFSETTING

Carbon offsetting is an internationally recognised way to take responsibility for unavoidable carbon emissions. In a world where global emissions continue to grow, the time to act is now. Schools Go Surfing has partnered with ClimateCare to offset the carbon emissions from our customers and ultimately become carbon neutral.

By analysing the flight route and number of passengers in your group, we’re able to calculate how many tonnes of CO2 we must offset to become carbon neutral. ClimateCare’s carbon calculator converts this figure into an accurate cost to offset your carbon emissions. Our payment to ClimateCare will support projects that are tackling climate change, protecting our environments and improving local communities. Find out more about ClimateCare here: https://climatecare.org/

REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES

Our customers receive a free Schools Go Surfing reusable water bottle. We chose to partner with the Finnish company “Nolla” for the supply of our refill bottles, as they guarantee a high-quality finish and share our goal; zero waste. This navy-coloured water bottle comes with a bamboo screw cap and can hold up to 750ml of water.

The enormous amounts of plastic waste in our oceans are becoming an increasing problem for the marine life, which affects the nature of our planet. By providing reusable water bottles and environmentally friendly water dispensers at our partnered surf camps, we drastically reduce the usage of plastic water bottles that are bought in supermarkets by our students.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

We continue working towards developing and promoting responsible tourism during our overseas school trips. By working closely with our overseas partners and school groups on tour, we can continue improving our sustainable practices. Environmentally, these practices include minimising our impact on the ocean environment, considering our transport options and reducing waste.

Upon arrival in-country, we support our host countries and communities by visiting local restaurants, cafes and shops. We provide our students with destination guides to promote learning the local language and becoming aware of the local culture and customs. We aim to provide an exciting, educating and sustainable school trip that is also of benefit to the host country; and not damaging to the local environment or society.

CONSERVATION & ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS

From beach clean-ups in Europe to Turtle Conservation projects in Bali and Costa Rica, we actively seek sustainable conservation and environmental project work. We’re aware of the potential pitfalls from participating in voluntourism and this growing industry. As such, we carefully choose projects that we believe are worthwhile and beneficial to the local environment or community.

Should you wish to incorporate conservation or environmental projects within your school surf and wellbeing trip, please discuss your in-country options with your School Manager. Our team will create a bespoke quote and itinerary based on your preferences and requirements.
